Jonathan Alder's Jack Kennedy is OSU Wexner Medical Center Athlete of Week

In a vote that ended April 19, Dispatch.com readers selected the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week for competitions that took place from before April 14.

This week's winner is Jonathan Alder lacrosse player Jack Kennedy.

Kennedy had six goals and three assists in a 17-3 win vs. Licking Valley, five goals and two assists in a 11-10 win vs. Oakwood and 10 goals and four assists in a 22-15 win vs. John Glenn. For the season, Kennedy has 34 goals and 23 assists for 57 points with 37 ground balls.

Kennedy received 36.4% of the vote and was followed by Olentangy Berlin lacrosse player Carson Lanfersiek, who had 18.9%, Bexley lacrosse player Sam Horne (12.9%), Granville softball player Sophia Patena (10.7%), Columbus School for Girls lacrosse player Bridget Donnelly (9.9%), Big Walnut track and field athlete Natalie Vrancken (7.9%) and Columbus School for Girls lacrosse player Lauren LaRochelle (3.3%).

Lanfersiek, the runner-up, had 10 saves in a 9-6 win over Hilliard Darby, 11 saves in a 6-5 win over Dublin Coffman and 10 saves in a 7-3 win over Beavercreek.

Horne had 20 stops at goalie in a 5-4 win over St. Charles.

In four games, Patena  batted .800 (12 for 15) with seven singles, one double, one triple, three home runs, an .812 OBP, 10 RBIs, eight runs and two stolen bases. 

Donnelly had 14 points and 19 draw controls over three games, including nine goals in a win over Bexley. 

Vrancken is undefeated in discus this season with a best of 122' 1". In the discus, she helped her relay team win the Worthington Kilbourne Mixed Gender Relays, won the Newark Invitational, helped her relay win the Golden Eagle Relays and won the North Union Invitational. She has also placed first in the shot put in Worthington Kilbourne's Mixed Gender Relay, placed fourth in the Newark Invitational, won the Eagle Relays and placed fourth at the North Union Invitational. Her personal best is 32' 6.5" She also has high-jumped 4' 10" and placed seventh at Newark and fourth in the Golden Eagle Relays. She leads the team with 70 points. 

Freshman midfielder Bridget Donnelly was honorable mention all-region, second-team all-CIL and first-team all-MSL-Ohio for CSG.

LaRochelle had seven assists and three goals against Bexley, three assists against Wellington and two assists and two ground balls against Mariemont.

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. Athletes who have not been a recipient of one of the weekly awards can be nominated more than once.
