Ohio State's best available players in NFL draft: Top prospects for Day 2

Colin Gay
Columbus Dispatch

The first day of the NFL draft is complete. And one Ohio State football player is already off the board.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was the fourth overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 draft as the highest-selected wide receiver in Ohio State history ahead of players such as Terry Glenn, David Boston and Garrett Wilson.

But Harrison is not expected to be the only Ohio State player to be picked in the draft.

Here's which Buckeyes could be second- or third-round targets Friday.

Ohio State's best available players

Mike Hall Jr., Defensive line, Junior

Mike Hall Jr. will likely find his home on the second day of the 2024 NFL draft.

The former third-team All-Big Ten defensive tackle was projected as a second- or third-round pick by most draft experts after he recorded 45 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss and 6 sacks in three seasons.

While Hall displayed his dominance at the Senior Bowl and his Pro Day with his quick hands and dominant bullrush at the line of scrimmage, his underwhelming size — 6-foot-3, 290 pounds — made him a day two target.

Nov. 25, 2023; Ann Arbor, Mi., USA;
Ohio State Buckeyes tight end Cade Stover (8) is tackled by University of Michigan linebacker Jimmy Rolder (30) during the first half of SaturdayÕs NCAA Division I football game at Michigan Stadium.

Cade Stover, Tight end, Senior

Cade Stover is viewed as one of the top all-around tight end prospects in the NFL draft.

After HOW MANY TIGHT ENDS WERE SELECTED... Stover is viewed as one of the best available after finishing 2023 as the Big Ten's Tight End of the Yeah and a Mackey Award finalist. He had 576 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns on 41 catches: the most from an OSU tight end since John Frank in 1983.

Expect Stover to be one of the first tight ends to hear his name called in either the second or third round of the draft.

Tommy Eichenberg, Linebacker, Redshirt senior

Tommy Eichenberg had his share of starting and captain experience at Ohio State. It could be enough to make his a second-day selection in the NFL drafy.

He's a first-team All-Big Ten linebacker, was named as the conference's Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year and was a second-team All-American.

While his lack of athleticism in passing situations may be detrimental to his draft stock, Eichenberg has the chance to be Ohio State's first drafted linebacker since Baron Browning in 2021 in either the second or third round.
