Canal Winchester High School's Annelise Dearth was the winner in this week's Dispatch Student of the Week poll.

Dearth secured 70.7% of the votes cast to top Brandon Heil of St. Francis DeSales.

Here is Dearth's nomination from the school:

Annelise Dearth, Canal Winchester: “Annelise (Annie) Dearth has consistently proven herself to be a tremendous contributor and positive asset to the Canal Winchester High School community. In the classroom, Annie has continually demonstrated superior academic abilities in some of the most rigorous courses available, including taking honors, Advanced Placement and college-level courses during her time in high school. While completing this demanding coursework, Annie has garnered a 3.687 grade point average. Annie has also demonstrated exemplary character and leadership throughout high school. She has established herself as a leader for Hope Squad, a student-led organization dedicated to enhancing student mental health. Annie has also given back to the community by volunteering with Indians Club and the National Honors Society and assisting incoming students as a student ambassador.”

Here is Heil's nomination from the school:

Brandon Heil, St. Francis DeSales: “Brandon received the Glenna R. Joyce Scholarship — an annual award for the full cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, room, meals, books, personal expenses and standard transportation allowance for four years of undergraduate study at the University of Notre Dame. It is based on academic achievement and commitment to service. This scholarship is well deserved for Brandon as he is the senior class president, a Salesian Youth Leader, co-captain of the SFD tennis team and ranked first in the Class of 2024 at St. Francis DeSales.”

Students were nominated by participating central Ohio high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors for outstanding academic and school achievement and community service.
